What personal data I collect and why I collect it

Mailing List

To be able to receive my mailing list emails, you must provide me with certain information, such as your name and email address. I rely on a number of legal bases to collect, use, and share your information, including: when you have provided your affirmative consent, which you may revoke at any time, such as by signing up for my mailing list;

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Who I share your data with

Information about my customers is important to my business. I share your personal information for very limited reasons and in limited circumstances, as follows:

I use MailChimp as my marketing automation platform. The information you provide when subscribing to my mailing list will be transferred to MailChimp for processing in accordance with their Privacy Policy and Terms.

How long I retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
